Thought it was about time I made something like this, so here we go. Taken from experience and regularly updated motivation posts:
Breathe. Just close your eyes, take deep breaths in and out, and count them. Count for as long as you need.
If you feel like you’re gonna have a panic attack, find somewhere quiet (like a toilet cubicle if in public, or your bedroom) and sit down. With your eyes closed slowly clench every muscle from your head to your toes and back up again - you’re grounding yourself to the here and now, and not on the thoughts in your head. Slow down your breathing and count your breaths, and try to make your mind as blank as possible.
If you have a place that calms you i.e. a certain beach, wood, park etc. - take something from that place, like a leaf or stone or shell, and take it with you in your pocket. When you feel anxious, touch it gently and remind yourself of how you feel in that calm place.
If you are talking to someone online, and can feel yourself spiralling down into panic mode, tell them you’ll be right back and stop talking for a while - I’ve found that continuing to talk, or trying to talk about something else, never works very well. I’m sure the person will understand. Talk again when you feel calmer and have put your thoughts back into place.
Take a piece of paper, and draw a circle. Write all your concerns and thoughts and negative feelings into the circle, then cross them all out. Scribble, put lines through them, rub them out with pencil - whatever works for you. Then crumple the piece of paper up and throw it away. Try not to think about those things anymore.
Music. Music is always very good if you feel anxious. I’ve found that piano music (like this, this, and this) plus Rainymood is a brilliant method of relaxing ~
Taking a long soak in a hot bath always helps. Just lie back, shut your eyes, and think of absolutely nothing but how good the water feels and how warm and relaxed you are.
Walks - if safe to do so, go for a walk around where you live. I live in the countryside, so I’ve always picked woods and footpaths through fields as my places to walk when feeling anxious or stressed about things.
I often feel sick when anxious, so a good thing to do is to get a glass of cold water and something to cuddle (like a toy or blanket or pillow) and curl up in bed. Try not to worry about throwing up - if you relax and calm down, you won’t be sick or anything.
If you feel like you want to self harm, flick hairbands or elastic bands against your wrists. It hurts, but it isn’t going to scar you or make you bleed.
If you hyperventilate and feel like you’re going to faint, sit down slowly and place your head between your knees. Take deep breaths and, if you can ask someone, try and get yourself some water and something sugary to bring your blood sugar levels back up.
Try and let out how you feel to someone or something. I have a private tumblr blog to let out stuff when it all becomes a bit too much. Having someone you can go to when you feel anxious or down is also a good idea. Don’t worry about burdening them, or that they’ll find your problems idiotic or silly - just let out how you feel.
I don’t know if this will be helpful for everyone, but I wanted to make a reference post for those who’d find it useful :) Will be making another post for how to help people with anxiety too ~

“My mother fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56. She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms. But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was. I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.

Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of” - My Medical Choice by Angelina Jolie, New York Times (14 May, 2013)
